December 22, 2021 Vacant AHP Housing Units Can Be Used to Help Disaster Victims

Our regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, granted a non-objection letter on Dec. 17. The letter temporarily suspends Affordable Housing Program (AHP) household income limits for rental projects housing individuals/households displaced by the Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding and tornadoes.

The displaced individual/household must have resided in a county affected by any of these events on, or after Dec. 11, 2021. Regardless of income level, the individual/household is then eligible to live in any vacant  Affordable Housing Program project nationwide. The resources below provide additional details.
